01 / Overview

A BCA with AI, cloud, and security
in the core.

The core starts with Java and Python, uses Linux across the systems courses, and includes cloud-native and full-stack development alongside GenAI, Agentic AI, and MLOps as mandatory courses for every student regardless of stream.

Curriculum highlights

  • 25 core courses across 6 domains. 5 programming, 6 full-stack/cloud/MLOps, 4 AI/GenAI/Agentic, 3 math-data, 4 Linux-based systems, 3 cybersecurity. The cybersecurity ladder runs Fundamentals → Offensive → Defensive → DevSecOps across four consecutive terms, with DevSecOps placed alongside the Capstone.
  • AI across the program. Applied AI & ML, Generative AI & LLM Applications, AI Platform Engineering, and Agentic AI & Applications are core for every student. The AI stream adds depth on top; students in other streams still graduate with four AI courses on their transcript.
  • Cloud-native in the core. Cloud Computing and DevOps is a 4-credit course covering Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and AWS/Azure. DevSecOps and MLOps sit next to it in the core.
  • Linux across the systems courses. Linux Systems Programming as a standalone 3-credit course, with Linux administration integrated into OS, Networks, and HPC.
  • PBL & Regular modes share the same 37 courses. 9 trimesters (PBL) vs 6 semesters (Regular). Same catalog, same credits. Only the calendar shape differs.
  • 5 specialization streams, plus a second in Honors. Y3 students pick one stream (4 PEs). Y4 Honors students complete a second specialization from the remaining four streams, plus industry immersion or honors research.
02 / Philosophy

Three principles behind
the design.

Three observations shape the curriculum: what AI roles require today, what the default developer stack looks like, and how systems courses should serve application developers.

The BCA graduates with the strongest outcomes in 2026 are the ones who can build, deploy, and secure an AI-integrated full-stack application and explain what it does for the business. This curriculum is designed around that profile.
THESIS · 01
GenAI, Agentic AI, and MLOps sit in the core.

LLM APIs, agentic patterns, and MLOps are now common in product teams. Generative AI & LLM Applications, Agentic AI & Applications, and MLOps are part of the core for every student rather than optional electives.

THESIS · 02
Full-stack, cloud-native, and DevSecOps make up the default stack.

Frontend, DBMS with Backend, Cloud with DevOps, DevSecOps, Software Engineering, and MLOps form a six-course spine. Every student builds, containerises, deploys, and secures a full-stack application during the program.

THESIS · 03
Systems courses focus on operating, not just theory.

OS covers concurrent programming and system calls. Networks covers protocols and administration. HPC covers cluster operations and GPU scheduling. Linux Systems Programming is a dedicated 3-credit course. The track is oriented toward running systems, not only reasoning about them.

03 / Architecture

Two calendar formats.
One Honors path.

PBL (trimester) and Regular (semester) modes carry the same 37 academic items and close at exactly 120 credits. The 4-year Honors extension is semester-only: both 3-year cohorts converge for Year 4.

Mode 01 · Trimester
PBL · Project-Based

Nine 12-week trimesters, four courses per term. Studio-heavy, continuous assessment, project deliverables over written exams.

9 trimesters · 4 courses/term · 5 in T8 (research) · 4 in T9 (Capstone + DSOP + PE-IV + OE)
32 contact hr/week · 2 summer terms
120 credits · 38 + 39 + 43 per year
Mode 02 · Semester
Regular · Traditional

Six 16-week semesters, six courses per term. Lecture-tutorial-lab rhythm, midterm + final assessment, term projects.

6 semesters · 6 in S1–S3 · 7 in S4 & S5 · 5 in S6 (Capstone + DSOP + PE-IV + 2 OEs)
32 contact hr/week · 2 summer terms
120 credits · 36 + 44 + 40 per year
04 / Domains

Nine domains across
twenty-five core courses.

Every core course belongs to exactly one domain. Every domain has a clear pedagogical purpose and a defined credit budget. This is how 84 core credits + 36 non-core credits close at exactly 120.

06 / Streams

Five specialization streams.
Four PEs each. Honors adds a second stream.

Students declare their stream at end of S3 (Regular) or T6 (PBL) and take PE-I through PE-III across the load-heavy terms (T7–T8 in PBL, S4–S5 in Regular). PE-IV is reserved for the final term alongside the Capstone, so the project is built on the student's deepest stream content. In Year 4 (Honors), students pick a second stream from the remaining four and complete its full 4-PE bank — no separate "advanced PE" catalog needed.

Open Electives — 2 cross-school picks

Students also choose 2 Open Electives (3 cr each) from cross-school banks — genuinely outside CS & Applications. These are offered from 7 thematic banks: Technology & Emerging Tech · Design & Creative Production · Literature & Philosophy · Life Sciences & Human Biology · Performing & Visual Arts · Languages & Global Cultures · Business, Economics & Policy. Students pick freely across banks; OEs are not track-bound.

07 / PBL Mode

Nine trimesters.
Cyber ladder over four terms.
DevSecOps alongside Capstone.

Trimester-paced, project-led. The cyber ladder runs across four trimesters: CYBF (T5) → Offensive (T7) → Defensive (T8) → DevSecOps (T9) — each course builds on the last. T9 carries DevSecOps alongside Capstone, PE-IV, and one OE, so the final project is built, deployed, and secured within the same term. The AI stack — MLOps, AI Platform Engineering, and Agentic AI — is positioned in Y2–Y3 so students have AI work in their portfolio well before placements.

08 / Regular Mode

Six semesters.
Balanced load across the program.

Regular mode is designed independently of the trimester shape — not a mechanical re-slicing of PBL content. Foundational semesters hold 6 courses, the two "working" semesters (S4 & S5) carry 7 courses each, and the Capstone finale (S6) carries 5 items. Max 7 courses in any semester; no sem exceeds 21 contact hours per week. The key structural insight: Cloud (S3) alongside AIML unlocks MLOps + GenAI together in S4, and SE + Agile lands in S5 where students apply its practices directly to PEs, Term Paper and (next sem) Capstone delivery. Cyber ladder: CYBF (S3) → OFNS (S4) → DEFN (S5) → DSOP (S6).

Year Four. A second
specialization. Industry
immersion. Or research.

Both PBL and Regular 3-year cohorts converge into semester mode for Year 4. Students add a second full specialization (4 PEs from a different stream they did not take in Y3) and commit 25 credits to industry immersion or honors research. Graduates leave with two distinct streams on their transcript plus an industry-grade portfolio or thesis.

SEMESTER 8 · 3 ITEMS · 20 CR
  • Hons-PE-III · 2nd stream3
  • Hons-PE-IV · 2nd stream3
HONS RULE

How the second specialization works

There is no separate "advanced PE bank" for Hons year. Students who declared Applied AI & GenAI (S1) in Y3 return in Y4 to take all 4 PEs from one of the remaining four streams — for example, all four PEs from Cloud Native & SRE (S2). The four PEs are distributed two in S7 and two in S8, so the 2nd specialization runs in parallel with industry immersion and capstone delivery. Graduates leave with two complete specializations on their transcript, not a partial sampler.

The S8 choice between Industry Capstone and Honors Research is binding at the start of S7 — partners and research advisors are assigned accordingly. The 14-credit Capstone / Thesis is the single heaviest component in the four-year degree, and carries a public defense.

How the curriculum targets higher placements

The median Indian BCA graduate in 2024 was placed at ₹3.5–5 LPA. This program targets higher placements by building four elements into the design:

  • Portfolio built progressively from Year 1. Students deploy a cloud app before Summer 1 and a DevOps-instrumented full-stack app by the end of Year 2.
  • Four core AI courses on every transcript. Every graduate, regardless of stream, has Applied ML, GenAI, AI Platform Engineering, and Agentic AI on their résumé.
  • Industry immersion in Honors. Y4 Honors students spend 14 weeks full-time with a partner company in S8, giving both sides a chance to evaluate fit before placement offers.
  • Dual specialization in Honors. A Y4 graduate with two complete specializations (e.g. Applied AI & GenAI plus Cloud Native & SRE) is positioned for a narrower and higher-paying interview funnel than a single-stream graduate.
11 / Benchmarking

Comparison with peer BCA programs.

Compared against well-placed BCA programs in India and international equivalents. The distinguishing features: four core AI courses, cloud-native in the core, MLOps as required, and industry immersion in Honors.

What the table says — and doesn't

"Core" means mandatory for every student on the transcript. "Stream" means available as a track but not seen by students outside it. "Elective" means optional for anyone who chooses it. The distinction matters because employers don't filter on curriculum availability — they filter on what a résumé proves a student has actually taken.

This benchmarking is informational. Every program listed has strengths this summary does not capture (research pedigree, alumni networks, geographic advantages). The narrower point: the AI + GenAI + Agentic + Cloud + MLOps + DevSecOps combination as mandatory core is uncommon among Indian BCA programs in 2026.

12 / Certification Pathways

Global certification
pathways & skill development.

A stringent four-level (L0 → L3) certification framework mandating only globally recognized, paid, proctored vendor certifications for every BCA graduate. Mapped against the 25 cores and 20 specialization PEs, with Advanced and Regular tracks per stream targeting placements from ₹8 LPA to ₹35+ LPA. 42+ certifications. 5 streams. Vendor-locked progression.

12.1 / FRAMEWORK A four-level L0 — L3 certification pathway

Every BCA student progresses through four certification levels over the program — Foundation, Intermediate, Advanced, and Expert. Each level is anchored to specific terms and pegged to a placement CTC band. Only paid, proctored, globally recognized vendor certifications qualify for the formal SDC framework; MOOC course-completion certificates do not count.

Advanced vs Regular track philosophy

Every specialization stream offers two parallel tracks. Advanced track targets the top 30—40% of the cohort with CGPA ≥ 8.0, premium vendor certs (e.g. AWS Pro, OSCP, NVIDIA Advanced DL), and 500+ LeetCode problems including Hard tier. Regular track serves the core 50—60% with CGPA 6.5—8.0, associate-tier certs (e.g. AWS SAA, CompTIA Security+), and 300+ LeetCode problems. Track selection is recorded in the SDC portal at the start of each academic year and reviewed termly.

12.2 / UNIVERSAL Universal certifications for every BCA student

Six baseline certifications mandatory for the entire BCA cohort regardless of stream. These foundational credentials are mapped to specific core courses and validate skills required by every modern software role.

Compliance & tracking

Certification proofs (PDF certificate + verification URL) must be uploaded to the SDC portal within 7 days of completion. Status is mirrored to the placement CRM and visible to recruiters. Failure to complete year-wise milestones triggers a remedial pathway and may impact placement eligibility.

The Industry Advisory Board reviews the certification list every 6 months; the Strategic Policy Book is updated annually. Faculty supervising any course must hold the corresponding L1+ vendor certification before delivering it to students.
